Junior Dan Johnson pitched 5.0 perfect innings to help the University Heights Academy baseball team snap a six-game losing streak with a 26-0 win over visiting Christian Fellowship. The Blazers improve to 6-9, while the Eagles fall to 3-5.
The Blazers put up 7 runs in the first and third innings, with 10 in the second and 2 in the fourth to trigger the 10-run rule after five innings.
Johnson struck-out nine and faced the minimum over 5.0 innings, also collecting two hits and driving-in a run. Junior Zach Naylor had a huge night at the plate, hitting his way on twice and knocking-in 5. Junior Drew McGowan had two hits and 2 RBI with a triple, with 8th grader Dustin Moon going 2-4 with 2 RBI, sophomore Scribby Goode with a hit and 2RBI, and senior Malik Lovan with a hit and 2 RBI. Freshman Elvin Wagner, 8th grader Eston Glover and Charlie Rutland each had a hit and an RBI, with 8th grader Mason Price and sophomore Tanner Thomas each driving-in a run.
Sophomore Andrew Zabawa took the loss for the Eagles, lasting an inning while giving up 15 runs, 8 earned, on four hits with seven walks and a strikeout.
The Blazers are back in action on Tuesday when they welcome-in the 10-5 Livingston Central Cardinals.
