Emma Talley overcame a slow to finish strong and claim a tie for 31st place at the LPGA Mediheal Championship in Daly City, California near San Francisco Sunday.
Talley’s four rounds left her at even par and tied with LPGA heavyweights Inbee Park, and Lexi Thompson. She shot a 2-over 74 the first day and an even par 72 Friday which allowed her to sneak past the cut line by a single shot.
The Princeton native shot back-to-back rounds of 1-under-par 71 to rally to a 31st place finish. Her normal accuracy off the tee was an issue over the weekend as she missed 12 fairways. She also averaged three more putts a round than her normal of 29.
Lydia Ko beat Minjee Lee on the first playoff hole to claim the title. They both shot 12-under.
Talley earned $10,278 for her finish and remains 41st in the CME Point Standings. She has won $119,134 on the LPGA Tour this year, good for 38th. She must remain in the top 80 to keep her tour card for 2019. She remains third in the Rolex Rookie of the Year standings.
The LPGA makes its eastern most trip of the season to date Thursday with the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic at The Colony, Texas.
