A big regional softball showdown is set for this week, with a rematch next week. The two games between Madisonville and Christian County will go a long way towards deciding who enters the postseason as the favorite in the 2nd Region. In the meantime, the Lady Colonels have done nothing to lose their grip on the top spot in this week’s YSE Super 7.
– Christian County (18-3-1) – The Lady Colonels have not lost to a Kentucky team yet. They tied with Male, but nobody in the Bluegrass State has knocked em down yet.
– Madisonville (10-2) – The Lady Maroons have still not lost a game to a team from the 2nd Region since 2014. However, the loss to Daviess County is something to keep an eye on. The game Thursday against Christian County should tell us a lot.
– Caldwell County (9-5) – The Lady Tigers had two bad innings in Owensboro. But, against Lexington Christian and #10 Holy Cross, two bad innings was enough for two tough losses. Still, this is a team in a one game situation that will not be fun for an opponent to face.
– Webster County (8-6-1) – The Lady Trojans shut out Henderson County for their second win this season over the Lady Colonels. They have enough pitching to be a concern for their opponents come tournament time.
– Trigg County (14-7) – The Lady Wildcats had won 9 in a row until stubbing their toe in the second game of a doubleheader against Murray. A big week ahead for this team with games against Crittenden County, Lyon County, and Calloway County.
– Henderson County (5-7) – The Lady Colonels may be 5-7, but look close. Losses to three ranked teams, two to district rival Webster County, and two to solid Indiana teams. Would you be surprised to see them giving someone fits in the region tourney.
– Crittenden County (13-5) – They have now beaten Lyon County 2 out of three times this season, That was enough to put the Lady Rockets ahead of the Lady Lyons in this week’s rankings.
