After putting up a total of 24 runs in their first two games of pool play Saturday at the All A Classic state tournament, the Caldwell County Lady Tigers bats fell silent in their final game of the day. With the top seed out of their pool on the line, the Lady Tigers fell 4-0 to Lexington Christian late Saturday afternoon in chilly and breezy conditions at Jack Fisher Park.

The loss did not affect the Lady Tigers making it into Sunday’s championship bracket, as they had already clinched a berth with their win earlier in the afternoon over Whitefield Academy.

LCA would get all the offense they would need in the bottom of the 1st inning on an RBI triple by the their pitcher, Emilie Teall, to take a 1-0 lead. LCA would add three runs in the bottom of the 3rd to make it 4-0. Teall helped her own cause again with an RBI double in the inning.

Meanwhile, Teall was solid in the circle for LCA, going the full seven innings, allowing no runs on five hits, striking out two, while walking two.

Emma Staples went 2-2 for Caldwell County, while Mashea Glover went 2-3. In the circle, Katie Franklin gave up 4 runs on 8 hits, and struck out five.

The Lady Tigers advance on to take on Louisville Holy Cross, Sunday morning at 9:00, in the quarterfinals of the championship bracket.
