The Lyon County softball team lost the regular-season rubber-match 5-2 to Crittenden County on Friday night in Eddyville.  The Lady Rockets beat Lyon 11-1 in All A play, before the Lady Lyons got revenge with an 8-7 home win just over a week ago.  With the win, Crittenden County improves to 13-5, 3-1 in the 5th District, while the Lady Lyons slip to 12-9, 2-2 in district play.

The Lady Rockets put up 4 first-inning runs, with freshman Chandler Moss knocking-in 3 with a triple off Lyon starter Sophie Bingham.  Bingham got a run back in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double to bring in freshman Sydney Melton.

The Lady Lyons shaved another run off the lead in the bottom of the second when Melton grounded out to allow freshman Kyra Craft to come home.  However, that would be all the offense Lyon County could muster, with the Lady Rockets adding a run in the top of the fifth for the final 5-2 score.

Bingham was saddled with the loss, working 7.0 inning and allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, on four hits with eight strikeouts and a walk.  She also had a hit and an RBI, as did Melton.  Freshmen Calista Collins and Rachel Coursey each collected two hits, while freshman Kaelyn Conger and sophomore Allye Culp both had a hit.

Moss earned the win, going the distance and giving up only 2 unearned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and a walk.  She also knocked-in 3, with freshman Matthia Long going 2-3 with 2 RBI.

The Lady Lyons have the weekend off before returning to the field on Tuesday when they go on the road to face the 4-12 Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.
