Taryn Gray’s two-run homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Russellville a 10-8 softball win over Todd County Central Wednesday in Russellville. The homer was one of six hit in the game.
Todd rallied from a 5-0 deficit to take an 8-7 lead into the bottom of the seventh when Haylee Vass smacked a two-out double that scored Rachel Bilyeu. Brooklyn Ray tied the game in the home half of the seventh on her second home run of the game.
Vass had three hits and a double for Todd County, while Bilyeu, Emma Harris, and Michaela Robertson each had two hits. Harris and Robertson both had two RBIs.
Robertson and Bilyeu each hit solo home runs for Todd County Central in the fifth inning.
Seventh grader Amiyah Collier had four hits in the game, including a solo home run. Ray had three hits and three RBIs, while Gray had four RBIs from her two homers.
The loss was the second close one to Russellville this year by the Lady Rebels. They dropped a 12-9 decision in the All-A Region Tournament.
Russellville (10-7) and Todd County (5-6) are both 1-1 in 13th District play. The Lady Rebels play at Fort Campbell Thursday.
