Lyon County had trouble coming up with enough runs to overcome a good start by the McCracken County Lady Mustangs Tuesday evening in Paducah. McCracken County scored four runs in the first inning on their way to a 6-1 win.
Lyon County actually took the lead early in the contest. Sydney Melton opened the game with a walk. After a strikeout, Calista Collins singled to put runners on first and second. After a popup on the infield for the second out of the inning, Allye Culp doubled down the left side to score Melton and put Lyon County in front 1-0.
McCracken got their four runs in the bottom of the inning through a walk, a hit batter, a two run double and a two run home run. The Lady Mustangs added two insurance runs in the bottom of the 3rd with a single, a triple and a sacrifice fly, to go in front 6-1.
After their run in the first inning, the Lady Lyons could only manage three more hits for the rest of the game.
Sophie Bingham was 2-3 in the game, while Allye Culp was 1-2 and drove in the Lady Lyons only run of the contest.
In the circle, Bingham went six innings, giving up six runs on six hits, striking out four and walking two.
The loss ended a seven game winning streak for Lyon County.
