The Todd County Central baseball team picked up its second win of the season on Friday, having no trouble with visiting Caverna on the way to a 13-0 victory. The win stops a three-game slide for the Rebels and moves their record to 2-8, while Caverna remains winless at 0-6.
8th grader Tanner Farmer got the Rebels started with a first-inning double that scored 2, and they extended their lead to 7-0 in the second inning. The surge was fueled by a double from senior Trevor Henderson, and consecutive RBI singles by sophomore Bryce Nolan, junior Pedro Gonzalez, and sophomore Dylan Hurt.
Nolan and Gonzalez delivered again in the fourth, each knocking-in a run with back-to-back singles to open up a 10-0 lead. Freshman Jameson Hunt and 8th grader Dylan Baker both singled to bring in runs in the fifth for the final 13-0 score.
Hurt got the win for the Rebels, pitching 3.0 innings with five strikeouts and two walks and a single hit allowed. 8th grader Will Kearns went the final two frames, not allowing a hit and striking-out two and walking one.
Nolan led the way at the plate, going 2-3 with 3 RBI, followed by Gonzalez and Farmer with a couple of hits and 2 RBI each. Hunt was 3-4 with an RBI, and Baker and Hurt each had a hit and knocked-in a run.
The Rebels travel to Mayfield on Saturday to take part in the Eagle Classic at Graves County. They are scheduled to face the Eagles and Webster County.
