Christian County Blasts O-Cath in Elizabethtown Tourney

The Christian County Lady Colonels are on a bit of a hot streak. The latest team to get steamrolled by the Lady Colonels machine Friday evening with Owensboro Catholic. The Lady Colonels scored early and often in blasting the Lady Aces 16-1 in three innings at the Big M Chevrolet Class in Elizabethtown.

Christian County scored 8 runs in the first, 2 in the second, and then closed it out with six more runs in the bottom of the 3rd.

The Lady Aces actually took the early lead in the game, coming up with a two out double, followed by an RBI single, to go in front 1-0.

However, it did not take Christian County long to seize the lead and not let go. The first eight Lady Colonels to come to bat in the bottom of the first reached base, with the first five stringing together base hits. By the time Catholic finally got the 3rd out the Lady Colonels were up 8-1.

Christian County extended the lead in the bottom of the second inning. Lexie O’Daniel opened the inning with a single. Tyler Shemwell then blasted one out of the park to left field to make it a 10-1 Christian County lead after two innings.

In the third, the Lady Colonels took advantage of five walks to reach the 15 run margin to end the game. The game ending run scored when Hope Jones was hit by a pitch, forcing in Regan Hancock from 3rd.

Tyler Shemwell was 3-3 with a home run and 3 RBI’s. Emmy Blane was 3-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Lexie O’Daniel was 3-3 with 2 RBIs.

In the circle, O’Daniel went the full three innings, giving up one run on three hits, striking out three and walking none.

The win was the 7th in a row for Christian County. The Lady Colonels have scored ten or more runs in five of those wins.
