Ashton Plymale pitched his second career complete game shutout to lead Trigg County past Muhlenberg County 10-0 Thursday at the Toyota of Hopkinsville Town and County Classic at Hopkinsville High School. The win was Trigg’s fourth straight.
Plymale (3-1) scattered seven hits and struck out seven while walking no one in lowering his season ERA to 1.40.
He was gifted a three-run lead before he took the mound in the first inning. The Wildcats scored two runs on an error and a Jake Terrell RBI groundout and added a third run on a Darrin Brown bunt single.
The Wildcats put the game away with six runs in the fifth inning. Riley Stallons, Andrew Williamson and Nick Ahart had RBI singles, and Jake Terrell had a two-run double.
Stallons finished with three hits and two RBIs, while Darrin Brown had two hits and two runs knocked in. Micah Brown also had two of Trigg County’s 11 hits.
Cole Shanks and Nick Casey each had two hits for Muhlenberg County (6-7), who lost to Trigg County for just the second time in six career meetings.
Trigg County (8-3) will continue play in the Town and County Classic Friday when they play Calloway County at Christian County’s Colonel Field.
