The Madisonville-North Hopkins softball team used a sixth-inning, 2-run home-run to top host Caldwell County 3-1 on Thursday.  When the teams met in Madisonville on Tuesday, a 2-run homer in the bottom of the sixth tied the game for the Lady Maroons, before they won in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh.  The loss evens the Lady Tigers 7th District record at 2-2, and drops them to 5-3 overall.  Madisonville keeps its perfect record intact at 6-0, 3-0 in district play.

Neither team could break through until the Lady Maroons took the lead on a solo home-run by senior Lexi Miller in the top of the sixth.  Caldwell evened the score in its half of the inning on a sacrifice fly by junior Mashea Glover that brought home freshman Majah Hollowell.

After hitting a 2-run shot in the top of the seventh on Tuesday to tie the game, sophomore Lindsey Peyton went deep again on Thursday to give the Lady Maroons the lead at 3-1 in the top of the seventh.  The Lady Tigers went quietly in their last at-bat to end the game.

Junior Courtney Patterson went the distance to earn the win for Madisonville, surrendering a run on three hits while striking-out six and walking one.  Junior Katie Franklin took the loss, pitching seven innings and giving up 3 runs on five hits with ten strikeouts.

Franklin and juniors Peyton Young and Haley Stiles each had a hit for the Lady Tigers, and Glover knocked-in a run.  Peyton had a hit and 2 RBI and Miller had a hit and an RBI for the Lady Maroons.

Caldwell returns to the field on Monday when they welcome Webster County (6-4) to Princeton.
