The Hopkinsville Tigers rolled to a three-inning, 25-0 win over the visiting Russellville Panthers on Monday night. The Tigers even their record at 7-7 after losing their last two, while the Panthers remain winless at 0-7.
The first two Tiger batters were hit by pitches from Russellville junior Hunter McDowell, followed by consecutive walks. McDowell recorded the only out he would get on a fielder’s choice, before a walk and two more hit by pitches signaled the end of his night and left the Tigers with a 6-0 lead. The Tigers added another run in the first, then exploded for 13 in the second inning, and put up 5 more in the third for the 25-0 final score.
Eleven Tigers had at least 1 RBI, and twelve different players crossed the plate. Freshman Landon Snyder led the way at 2-4 with 4 RBI and 4 runs scored, followed by senior Dalton Bearns with two hits and 3 RBI, and sophomore Layne Jorgensen with 3 knocked-in. Freshman Ryan Myers, junior Robert Justus, freshman Zach Caudill, and sophomore Caleb Bapp each had a hit and 2 RBI
Snyder got the win, going 3.0 innings while only allowing two hits and striking-out 4. Freshman Logan Durst worked 2.0 innings, striking-out 2 and yielding one hit.
The Tigers return to the field on Wednesday when they host the 5-5 Union County Braves.
