It was a good news, bad news kind of day Sunday afternoon for the Lyon County Lady Lyons. The good news was that they were actually able to get enough of a break in the weather to get two games played in the final day of the Brentwood Invitational. The bad news came in the form of a couple of tough losses.

In their first game of the day, the Lady Lyons fell to Lawrence County 6-1 in 5 innings, in a game that was called after the 75-minute time limit. Lyon County got on the board first in the top of the first inning. Sydney Melton hit the last of three straight Lyon County singles to open the game to drive in Sophie Bingham and put Lyon County up 1-0.

Lawrence County came back with two runs in the second inning and four more in the fourth to take the 6-1 lead.

Lyon County went down in order in the top of the 5th to end the game.

Sydney Melton went 1-1 in the contest and drove in the only Lyon County run. Kaelyn Conger and Sophie Bingham combined to pitch four innings, giving up six runs on six hits, striking out three and walking two.

In their second game of the day, Summertown scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning and then held on for a 7-3 win over Lyon County in a game that was called due to time limit after the top of the 4th inning.

Summertown batters connected for six hits, two for extra bases, to come up with the seven runs in the bottom of the first. All of the runs came against Lyon County starter Sophie Bingham.

The Lady Lyons came up with all three of their runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Calista Collins had an RBI double and Kerstin Craft drove in two more with a single to centerfield to cut the lead to 7-3. G Wynn tripled in the top of the 4th for Lyon County, but the Lady Lyons were unable to rally in their final at bat of the game.

Craft was 2-2 for the game with 2 RBIs, while Collins was 2-2 with an RBI.
