The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers picked up their first win of the 2018 season Thursday evening. Hopkinsville scored 15 runs in the first inning on their way to a 25-1 win over the Fort Campbell Falcons.
The Lady Tiger batters teed off on three different Fort Campbell pitchers, scoring their 25 runs on a total of 18 hits. Meanwhile, Hoptown hurler Marley Hancock gave up only one run on one hit and struck out six during her three innings of work.
Hopkinsville opened quickly in the bottom of the first inning, scoring seven runs before getting their first out of the at bat. By the time the dust settled at the end of the inning, the Lady Tigers had taken a 15-0 lead. One of the big shots of the inning came from shortstop Shelby Harbour, who crushed a two run shot over the left center fence.
Taking advantage of an error, two hit batters, and a walk, Fort Campbell did manage to score a run in the top of the second, but could not sustain a rally.
Hopkinsville got right back to work in the bottom of the 2nd inning, scoring ten more runs to extend the lead to 25-1. The game ended after Fort Campbell failed to score in the top of the 3rd inning.
Sabrina Hodge and Morgan Hodge led Hopkinsville, both going 3-3 with 3 RBIs. Harbour was 2-3 with 3 RBIs and the two run home run.
