Two Christian County pitchers combined to throw a five hit shutout as Christian County defeated Lyon County 10-0 in six innings Saturday afternoon. The shutout, which came in both teams’ second game of the day, was Christian County’s 3rd in five games to start the season.

Regan Hancock went five innings, allowing five hits, striking out four, and walking no one. Halle Hendricks worked the top of the 6th inning, getting Lyon County out in order on three straight groundouts.

Offensively, the long ball was a big part of the Lady Colonels arsenal. Christian County took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Emmy Blane gave one a long ride to right field.

After Hope Jones drew a walk to open the bottom of the 3rd, Lexie O’Daniel hit a 2-run homer to left field with one out to extend the lead to 3-0. Regan Hancock helped her own cause later in the inning, driving in Pickle Winkler with a two out single to make it a 4-0 game.

Lyon County’s biggest threat came in the top of the 4th inning when Sydney Melton, Calista Collins, and Kaelyn Conger put together three straight singles to load the bases with no outs. Hancock then buckled down and got the next three Lady Lyons in order to close the door on the threat.

Christian County got the offense cranking again in the bottom of the inning. After loading the bases with one out, Tyler Shemwell came up with a single to drive in Hope Jones and make it a 5-0 lead. A Lyon County error allowed Christian County to add another run and extend the lead to 6-0.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, a walk, a sacrifice bunt, and another Lyon County error allowed the Lady Colonels to push the lead out to 7-0.

Christian County then ended the game in the bottom of the 6th inning. A single by Lexie O’Daniel opened the inning. That was followed by a walk to Pickle Winkler. Reni Shemwell then sent everbody home with a three run blast to left to make it 10-0.

Emmy Blane, Lexie O’Daniel, Regan Hancock, and Taylor Shemwell all had two hits for Christian County. O’Daniel, Blane, and Reni Shemwell all hit home runs for the Lady Colonels. Shemwell had 3 RBIs, while O’Daniel added two.

Melton, Collins, Conger, Sophie Bingham, and Rachel Coursey had hits for the Lady Lyons.
