The Louisville Cardinals have apparently looked to the Queen City for their next head basketball coach. ESPN is reporting that Louisville has reached a deal with Xavier head coach Chris Mack to become the next coach of the Cardinals. Mack would follow David Padgett, who served as interim coach for the 2017-2018 season after Rick Pitino was fired just prior to the beginning of the season.
The ESPN report notes that the deal between Mack and Louisville is for seven years, and is worth about four million dollars per year. Mack has been the head coach at Xavier for the last nine seasons, reaching the NCAA tournament eight times during that span.
Prior to being promoted to head coach at Xavier, Mack was an assistant coach for five years. He also spent time as an assistant coach at Wake Forest.
