
A former member of the Hopkinsville Tiger golf team had a solid weekend on the links in Florida. The Murray State men’s golf team came home with a 13th place showing at the FAU Slomin Autism Championship in Boca Raton. The Racers posted scores of 293-288-300=881 to place 13th in the field of 19 teams.
MSU’s Austin Knight, who played at Hopkinsville High School, was the Racers’ top finisher with a spot in 27th place on scores of 71-72-73=216, while Connor Coombs placed 50th on rounds of 71-72-78=221. Justin Wendling had scores of 76-74-74=224 which earned a spot in 73rd place. Lance Davis had scores of 75-70-83=228 to place 91st, while Gabe Wheeler placed 97th on scores of 76-80-75=231.
Lynn was the team winner with a total of 826, with Connecticut (845), Jacksonville State (850), Houston Baptist (851) and Georgetown (857) making up the top-5 teams.
UConn’s Jimmy Hervol was the medalist winner among the field of 113 players with scores of 64-67-70=201.
