The UHA baseball team posted a 12-19 record last season, falling to Christian County for the second year in a row in the 8th District championship game.  The Blazers’ season came to an end in the first round of the 2nd Region tournament with a 2-1 loss to Caldwell, the closest game the Tigers would play in route to a regional championship.  UHA last claimed a regional tournament win in 2005, a 5-2 result over Madisonville-North Hopkins.

Garrett Gee, Seth Hudson, Taylor Price, Noah Thomas, and Lucas Womack, all graduated for the Blazers, but a solid core remains.  Junior Mississippi State commit Drew McGowan leads the way for the Blazers, and will do a little bit of everything at pitcher, catcher, SS, and 2nd base.  Senior left fielder Malik Lovan returns as well, joined by sophomore Tanner Thomas and sophomore Scribby Goode.  Junior Dan Johnson and Zachary Naylor, freshman Luke Welch, and 8th grader Eston Glover will also be counted on to produce for the Blazers.

The Blazers got the season off to a strong start with an 11-0 win over visiting Fort Campbell on Wednesday, and will be looking to start 2-0 in 8th District play when they welcome the Hopkinsville Tigers on Thursday night.
