Bryce Thomas and Shane Burns each had three hits and four RBIs to lead Caldwell County to a 14-7 season-opening win at Trigg County Thursday.
Thomas tripled home three runs as part of a five-run sixth inning, and Burns added a two-run single in the seventh as Caldwell County, the 17th ranked team in the Prep Baseball Report preseason poll, erased a 6-4 deficit after five innings.
Riley Stallons gave Trigg County a 6-4 lead with a fourth inning grand slam that capped a five-run fourth inning. Stallons and Hayden Cunningham each had two hits for Trigg County, while Savion Radford added an RBI single.
Jase Ryan Felker had two hits for the Tigers, and Tate VanHooser added a single and two RBIs.
Felker picked up the win in relief with two innings of hitless baseball, striking out three. Gabe East started for Caldwell and allowed six runs on seven hits and struck out seven.
Savion Radford took the loss for Trigg County. Jake Terrell started, giving up three earned runs on seven hits in five innings. He walked four and struck out four.
Trigg County (0-1) will host Union County in a doubleheader Friday.
Caldwell County (1-0) will host #15 Paducah Tilghman Friday.
