A former UHA golfer helped the Murray State women’s golf team secure a 2nd place finish in the rain shortened Spring Citrus Challenge. The weather conditions led to the event being cut back to 36 holes at Red Tail Golf Club in Sorrento, Florida. The Murray State women’s golf squad came home with a second-place finish on scores of 306-303=609 as they shared it with Keiser and trailed winner Florida Gulf Coast at 597.
Moa Folke was the low player for the Racers on rounds of 75-74=149 and a spot in sixth place in the field of 77 competitors, while Linette Holmslykke placed ninth on rounds of 77-73-150. Raeshay Surendran placed 19th on scores of 77-77=154 and it was a 28th place finish for Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria on scores of 77-80=157.
UHA grad Anna Moore had scores of 79-79=158 and finished in 34th place. Nadine Innes played as an individual for the Racers and placed 61st overall, sixth among 11 solo players, on rounds of 82-86=168.
The Racers take the momentum of this good finish to their next event (March 23-25) in Stockbridge, Georgia. MSU competes at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate hosted by Georgia State at Eagle’s Landing Golf Club. The Racers are the defending champions of the event. MSU won this tournament a year ago as one of their school-record six team victories in the 2016-17 season.
In wrapping up the Citrus event, the rest of the top-6 teams included Austin Peay (610), host Morehead State (618) and Western Illinois (619).
