Knight Shoots Low Score For Racer Golf Squad in South Florida

The Murray State men’s golf team fired their best round in the final round of the USF Invitational at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club in Tampa, Florida. The Racers got better each day in Tampa with scores of 319-312-309=940 to get a spot in eighth place in the field of 11 squads. The Racers passed George Mason (941) who finished in in ninth place in the field of 11 teams. Stetson (951) and Florida A&M (968) rounded out the field.

Former Hopkinsville High School golfer Austin Knight had the top finish among the five starters with a spot in 21st place on rounds of 79-7576=230.

Host South Florida was the winner at 875, with Florida Atlantic (904), Southern Illinois (906), Florida Gulf Coast (921) and Mercer (921) made up the top-5.

The course at Tampa Palms played to a par of 72 and a distance of 7,004 yards.

On a tough course and breezy conditions, there were no players in the field of 66 under par. South Florida’s Priyanshu Singh was the medalist on scores of 70-75-71=216.

Next up for the Racers is the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular (March 17-18) on the El Campeo course in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.
