Sunday brought plently of reasons for Lipscomb fans to celebrate. Bison players, coaches, fans and friends gathered in Allen Arena to watch the NCAA bracket be unveiled on TBS’ Selection Show.
In front of a raucous crowd, it was announced that No. 15-seeded Lipscomb will take on No. 2-seeded North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The matchup is set for Friday, March 16 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Tar Heels are looking to defend their national title after defeating Gonzaga by a score of 71-65 last April in Phoenix. Coached by the legendary Roy Williams, North Carolina boasts six national championships and a storied basketball history. The Tar Heels are led by Joel Berry (17.1 PPG) and Luke Maye (17.2 PPG), who hit a game-winning shot against Kentucky to send North Carolina to the Final Four last season.
Game time will be around 1:45 Friday with the game to be broadcast on CBS. Jim Nantz, Grant Hill, and Bill Raftery will have the call.
