Cadiz angler Douglas Colson picked up his first top 10 finish as a co-angler on the FLW Tour this year, taking home an eighth-place finish Friday on Lake Lanier, northeast of Atlanta.
Colson caught the five-bass limit each day, totaling 12-pounds, 14-ounces on Thursday and 10-pounds, 15-ounces on Friday. His total of 23-13 was just under eight pounds less than the winner, Joe Anders of Easley, SC.
Colson was teamed with Jim Jones of Big Bend, Wisconsin, who caught 23-pounds, 14-ounces. Douglas did slightly better than his father Ramie, who caught 23-pounds, 8-ounces to finish 88th in the pro division. Douglas won $1,800 for his finish.
The former Trigg County High School angler has finished in three FLW events this year as a co-angler, which means he is randomly paired with a partner and fishes from the back of the boat simultaneously with the pro.
Colson currently sits in 158th in the co-angler point standings. The top 10 finish was his second in eight career events.
