The Logan County Lady Cougars are headed to the 4th Region semifinals. The Lady Cougars used a strong 3rd quarter performance to break open a close game and defeat Metcalfe County 69-57.
The Lady Hornets fought hard through the first quarter, and actually led Logan County 15-13 at the end of the quarter. Behind the play of Paige Vanzant, Logan County rallied in the second quarter, outscoring Metcalfe County 20-14 to take a 33-29 lead at the break.
In the third quarter, it was Peyton Vanzant who got hot, scoring 12 points in the quarter, as Logan County continued to stretch their lead. The Lady Cougars outscored Metcalfe in the quarter 22-12 to push the lead out to 55-41 and effectively finish the game.
The Lady Cougars were led by Peyton Vanzant with 25 points, while Paige Vanzant added 17.
Logan County improves to 22-10 on the season, and advances to Friday night’s 4th Region semifinal against Bowling Green. The Lady Purples advanced with a 58-43 win over Barren County.
