As a freshman, Taylor Daniel told University Heights coach Mike Smith he wanted to give the soccer thing a try. UHA’s program was low in numbers, and Taylor had played youth soccer years prior.
Four years later, Taylor’s work and improvement on the field led to him signing to continue his soccer career at Midway College.
Daniel scored 11 goals and had three assists as a junior and improved those stats to 12 goals and five assists as a senior in helping the Blazers to a 12-8-2 record and a berth in the Second Region Tournament where they lost to Madisonville 3-2 in double overtime.
Midway Coach Tim Wolz was at Friday’s signing at the high school and said the third-year program is losing seven senior starters from a team that was one game away from advancing to the NAIA National Tournament. He said Daniel will fit in well to their transition to next year.
Daniel said he was undecided on his college studies but is leaning toward business.
