With the end of the regular season rapidly approaching, the Lyon County Lady Lyons appear to be getting things rolling at the right time. The Lady Lyons hit the road to Madisonville to take on the Lady Maroons and came away with a 39-34 win.

The Lady Lyons had to hold off a second half rally from the Lady Maroons to secure the victory. Behind the play of Allison Murphy, the Lady Lyons led at the end of the 1st quarter 13-10. Murphy had 8 points and five rebounds in the quarter.

Lyon County put the defensive clamps on Madisonville during the second quarter, limiting the Lady Maroons to just five points, as the Lady Lyons extended their lead to 28-15 at the half.

But then the Lady Lyons seemed to lose their offensive footing. Lyon County was held to only five points in the 3rd quarter and only five points again in the 4th quarter. However, the Lady Maroons could not take advantage of the Lyon County struggles, and still ended up with the five point loss.

The Lady Lyons were led by Allison Murphy with 13 points and 16 rebounds, while Sophie Bingham added 13 points in the contest. Lindsey Peyton was the only Lady Maroon to reach double figures with 10 points in the loss.

The win was the fifth in a row for Lyon County, and their 8th win in their last nine games. The only loss during that stretch was their loss to Williamsburg at the All A Classic state tournament in Richmond.

The Lady Lyons improve to 17-6 on the season and get ready to go back on the road Friday night to take on Union County.
