Scoring droughts have been an issue for Trigg County during the basketball season, and two of them played large roles in their 39-25 loss at Lyon County Tuesday.

The Lady Wildcats opened the game without a point for the first 5:22. However, Lyon County had similar issues scoring and saw Trigg battle back to within 7-6 after the first quarter.

The scoring drought that turned the tide of the game came midway through the third quarter. Bethany Stallons hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 17 with 3:28 left. Lyon County then went on a 12-0 run during which Trigg failed to score for 5:22. Hannah Holloman scored seven of Lyon’s points during the run and finished the game with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Katelyn Slone would knock down a 3-pointer to make the score 31-22 with 2:36 left, but Trigg would get no closer.

Holloman was joined in double figures by Sophie Bingham, who scored 10 points. Allison Murphy scored seven points, had seven steals, and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Bethany Stallons scored eight points to lead Trigg County, and Katelyn Slone and Adri Phillips both scored six points. Lauren Oliver pulled down 15 rebounds for the Lady Wildcats, who have lost 22 straight games to Lyon County and 24 straight games in Eddyville dating back to 1996.

Trigg County (7-14) travels to Dawson Springs next Tuesday, while Lyon County (14-6) will host Fort Campbell Thursday.
