The Todd County Central girls’ basketball team took some time getting going against visiting Barren County on Saturday, seeing a fourth-quarter rally fall short in a 47-41 loss. The Senior Day loss snaps a two-game winning streak, and drops the Lady Rebels to 8-11 on the year. The Trojanettes have won eight of nine and improve to 17-6.

Junior guard Amy Brumfield scored the Lady Rebels’ first 5 points of the frame, and the Trojanettes led 25-14 with 5:25 until the halftime break. Both teams found points hard to come by for the remainder of the period, with a layup by junior guard Paige Rager making the score 28-16 with 1:02 left. Todd County outscored the Trojanettes 9-3 to start the final quarter, capped off with a three pointer by senior guard Alexis O’Daniel to get within 4 with 3:43 left in the game. With their lead in jeopardy, Barren County began to milk the clock, and the Lady Rebels struggled to get the ball back. However, with :20 left, O’Daniel nailed another three to pull to within a basket at 43-41. The Lady Rebels were forced to put Barren County on the line twice in the last ten seconds, with the Trojanettes keeping their composure and hitting all four attempts to seal the 47-42 win.
Brumfield led Todd County with 14 points, joined in double figures by Peterson with 11. O’Daniel scored 8, all in the second half, and Robertson finished with 6.
