
The Lyon County Lyons battled for a half, only to see the Webster County Trojans break open a close game at the half and pull away for a 2nd Region win Tuesday night in Dixon. After only leading by five points at the half, the Trojans pulled away for a 65-46 win.
Lyon County got off to a great start Tuesday night, taking a 18-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lyons got to the front knocking down four 3-pointers in the first quarter.
The Trojans, who picked up their 11th win on the season, got things rolling in the second quarter. Behind the play of Chatman Ellis, who scored 17 first half points, the Trojans outscored Lyon County 13-4 in the quarter to take a 27-22 lead into the locker room.
Webster County hit the Lyons with a 7-2 run in the first three minutes of the second half to push the lead on out to 34-25. The Trojans kept the pressure coming, outscoring Lyon County 13-2 over the rest of the quarter to lead 47-27 going into the final quarter.
The Lyons could not cut significantly into the lead during the final quarter, as the Trojans cruised to the 19 point win.
Gabe Board was the only Lyon to reach double figures with 13 point. Travis Yancey added nine for Lyon County. It was another big night for Webster’s Chatman Ellis, who led all scorers with 24 points.
The loss, which was Lyon County’s 7th straight, dropped the Lyons to 1-10 on the season, while Webster County improves to 11-4.
