Christian County guard Detorrion Ware wanted to make an impact for his senior season. He was known for his long-range shooting as a junior, averaging 20.6 points a game and knocking down 80 three-pointers as the Colonels lost to Hopkinsville in the region title game.
Over the summer, Ware reinvented himself, dropping over 30 pounds from his 6-foot-5 frame to make him a threat to both shoot and drive. The results on the floor have been eye-popping. Ware is averaging 33 points a game while shooting 51-percent from the field. He has scored 49 points in a game twice this season, the most recent coming Thursday in the Poplar Bluff Showdown against Humboldt, TN. Ware, who is also averaging nine rebounds a game, is on pace to hit over 100 three-pointers this season.
College coaches have been enamored by Ware’s transformation as well as his stats. He is hoping that he can show off his game before a statewide audience in March.
