The Lyon County Lady Lyons got off to a good start in the 1st Lady Warrior Shootout at Community Christian Thursday afternoon. In a low scoring affair, the Lady Lyons got by St. Mary 39-22.
The Lady Lyons defense dominated most of the ballgame, limiting the Lady Vikings to 4 points in each of the first three quarters. Lyon County led the game after the first quarter 9-4. The Lady Lyons, behind the play of Allison Murphy, extended the lead to 17-8 by the end of the 2nd quarter.
Lyon County then pulled away in the 3rd quarter, outscoring St. Mary 10-4, to push the lead on out to 27-12. Hannah Holloman had six points in the quarter for the Lady Lyons.
The Lady Vikings tried to rally back in the 4th quarter, scoring nearly as many points in the quarter as they had the previous three. However, the Lady Lyons were able to hold St. Mary at arm’s length to pick up the win.
Lyon County was led by Hannah Holloman with 14 points. Allison Murphy added 10 points and 17 rebounds. Calista Collins also had a big day for Lyon County with 7 points and 14 rebounds. St. Mary got 10 points from Kelly Black to lead the way.
The win was the 4th in a row for the Lady Lyons, and improved their record to 6-2.
