The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers had no trouble in their opening game of the FNB Holiday Bash at South Warren. Hopkinsville cruised past Jenkins 85-42 to go 1-0 in their pool.
The Lady Tigers led only 14-10 after the first quarter, but then took the game over in the 2nd quarter. Behind the play of London Foster and Jayla Rose, Hopkinsville outscored Jenkins 28-16 in the second quarter to take 42-26 lead at the break.
Rose and Breon Oldham helped the Lady Tigers keep the offensive pressure going during the 3rd quarter. Hopkinsville outscored Jenkins 25-11 in the quarter to push the lead on out to 67 to 37.
The Lady Tigers then put the game away, outscoring Jenkins in the 4th quarter 18-5 to extend the lead on out to the final margin of 43 points.
Hopkinsville was led by Jayla Rose with 27 points. Breon Oldham added 21, while Zakyra Stallworth added 11 points and 12 rebounds. In additon to 10 points, London Foster came up with 10 steals for Hopkinsville.
With the win, Hopkinsville improves to 10-3 on the season.
