Christian County beat Todd County Central 69-45 Friday in a girls’ basketball game that left Lady Colonel Coach Kiki Radford unhappy and Lady Rebel Coach Travis Lovan pleased with what they saw.
Todd County took Christian County’s best shots early, trailing 15-10 after one quarter. The Lady Colonels turned up their press to create some easy baskets and build a 34-21 lead at halftime.
The Lady Rebels began the second half on an 8-0 run fueled by a pair of 3-pointers by Lexi O’Daniel. However, Christian County answered with a 19-0 run to put the game out of reach. The third quarter featured some chippyness that left both coaches pleased with how their teams responded.
Aaliyah Hampton led Christian County with 21 points, while Laderia Gold hit three 3-pointers and finished with 19 points. Trinitee Jackson battled foul trouble and finished with eight points. Her replacement on the floor, Trinity McGee, had seven points.
O’Daniel led Todd County Central with 14 points, with Michaela Robertson and Jasmine Mimms each scoring 10 points.
Todd County Central (2-7) will play at University Heights on Dec. 30.
Christian County (10-2) begins play in the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic Thursday against Lincoln County. The Lady Colonels will be making their third appearance in the event. They finished second in 1999 and won the event in 2001.
