Christian County raced out to a 45-8 halftime lead and went on to hammer Union County 65-16 Thursday at Lyle Dunbar Gymnasium.
The Lady Colonels, the top ranked team in the region in this week’s YourSportsEdge.com rankings, led 20-3 after one quarter and held the Bravettes to single digits in each of the four quarters.
It was an odd stat sheet for the Lady Colonels, who didn’t hit a 3-pointer but did knock down 23-of-35 free throws. Kinara Phillips led three Christian County players in double figures with 12 points. Laderia Gold scored 11 points, and Trinitee Jackson scored 10 points.
Christian County is now 4-0 against Second Region opponents, winning by an average margin of 36 points. The Lady Colonels (9-2) step out of the region Friday night when they travel to Todd County Central.
