The Caldwell County Tigers got their holiday season off to a happy start Thursday. The Tigers were able to edge the Glasgow Scotties 73-71 in their opening game of the BTN/WLBQ Christmas Classic. Caldwell County got the win behind a super performance from Derrin Boyd.
The two teams went toe to toe in the early going, with Caldwell County holding a 20-17 lead after the first quarter. The Scotties batted back in the second quarter, sending the game to the locker room all knotted up at 37 each.
Neither team could gain any separation during the third quarter, as the game remained tied going into the final period at 53-53.
Behind the 4th quarter play of Derrin Boyd and John Davis, the Tigers were able to do enough to hold on for the two point win.
Boyd led the Tigers with 41 points, including five 3-pointers. John Davis added 13 points for Caldwell County. Kobe Brents led Glasgow with 23 points.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 4-4 on the season.
