Christian County remains in the top spot in this week’s YourSportsEdge.com girls’ basketball rankings as we head into the Christmas break, while Hopkinsville makes a jump into the top three. Caldwell County makes a move into the top five for the first time this year.

Christian County (8-2) – The Lady Colonels dropped a close contest to a 10-3 Dyersburg, Tennesee team over the weekend but picked up a solid road win at Calloway County. The Lady Colonels have two games before Christmas and will play in the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic next week.

Webster County (6-3) – The Lady Trojans took care of business against region foes and dropped a close game to Evansville Reitz. Webster will get tested a bit when they play in the Owensboro Invitational Tournament this week.

Hopkinsville (7-2) – The Lady Tigers hurdle Henderson County this week thanks to wins over Trigg County, Hopkins Central, and a home victory over Fourth Region foe Logan County. Like Webster County, Hoptown will be playing in the OIT this week.

Henderson County (2-5) – Henderson continues to play a tough early season schedule which should benefit the young squad in February. They also will be playing in the OIT and have a pool play game against #3 Hopkinsville.

Caldwell County (6-2) – The Lady Tigers jump into the top five thanks to a six-game winning streak and have a showdown with McCracken County ahead of their appearance in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic after Christmas.

Livingston Central (7-5) – The Lady Cardinals opened the week with a slim one-point win over #9 Crittenden County. In their 18-point loss to #2 Webster County, Tabby Padon became the school’s all-time leading scorer surpassing Stacey Calhoun who played for LCHS in the early 1980s.

Hopkins County Central (4-5) – The Lady Storm have struggled against the region’s top three teams and dropped this week following a loss to #9 Union County. They will stay busy with seven games over the Christmas break.

Madisonville (2-5) – The Lady Maroon struggles continued with a 29-point loss to #2 Webster County. They hope to cure what ails them with several games against out-of-region (OOR) opponents over the break.

Crittenden County (4-4) – The Lady Rockets had a shot at moving up in the rankings but losses to #6 Livingston Central and to Carlisle County stunted their movement this week.

Lyon County (5-2) – The Lady Lyons have won three straight games and scored a season-high 67 points in an overtime win over Paducah Tilghman.

Union County (2-6) – The Bravettes may be the toughest team to read in the region. They appear to be improving as evidence in their win over #7 Hopkins County Central.

University Heights (2-5) – The Lady Blazers almost pulled off the win over #5 Caldwell County but continue to find a productive lineup that can consistently score.

Trigg County (3-6) – Trigg County’s only two wins in the region are against the two teams ranked below them. The Lady Wildcats are off until after Christmas.

Dawson Springs (2-7) – The Lady Panthers will be tested at the Murray Bank Hardwood Tournament this week and could see a bump with some good play there.

Fort Campbell (0-9) – The Lady Falcons are off until January when they return from the Christmas break with three consecutive Eighth District games.
