The Caldwell County Lady Tigers used a strong 4th quarter to pick up their 5th win in a row Saturday, going on the road to knock off Paducah Tilghman. The Lady Tigers have not lost since a December 1st home game against Christian County.
Caldwell County led the game early, holding a 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Bella McConnell was big for the Lady Tigers early in the game, as the sophomore had 10 first quarter points to lead the way. The two teams battled through the second quarter, with each team scoring 11, as Caldwell County went to the locker room leading 28-23.
Paducah Tilghman’s defense clamped down on Caldwell County in the third quarter, limiting the Lady Tigers to only eight points. Meanwhile, the Lady Blue Tornado, behind the play of Destiny Thomas and Jaaliyah Biggers, rallied to tie the game at 36 entering the final quarter.
In the 4th quarter, the Lady Tigers defense held Paducah Tilghman to one three point field goal from Tamia Gaines and one free throw, while they used a balanced attack to put 13 points on the board and put the game away.
The Lady Tigers had a big afternoon from Bella McConnell with 18 points and Jada Boyd with 14. Tilghman was led by Tamia Gaines with 13 points, and 7th grader Destiny Thomas with 10.
Caldwell County upped their mark to 5-2 on the season, while Tilghman falls to 3-6 by dropping their fifth game in a row.
