
The Lyon County Lady Lyons picked up their third win of the week Friday night, knocking off Union County 44-33. A strong second quarter ended up being the difference for the Lady Lyons.
The Bravettes could manage only seven points in the first quarter, but that was enough as their defense limited Lyon County to only two field goals. Union County ended the quarter with a 7-5 lead.
Lyon County got their offense going in the second quarter, while the Lady Lyons defense continued to put the clamps on the Union County offense. By the time the two teams went to the locker room, Lyon County was out in front 19-12.
The Bravettes attempted to rally back into the game in the 3rd quarter, as they outscored the Lady Lyons 11-10 to cut the lead to 29-23 headed into the final period. Allison Murphy and Sophie Bingham then took over down the stretch for Lyon County, as the Lady Lyons were able to pull out to the double digit win.
Bingham led Lyon County in scoring with 18 points. All of her points came on six made 3-pointers. She was 6 of 11 from behind the line. Murphy added 16 points, including 6 of 8 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter.
Union County was led by 8th grader Raigan Price with 11 points.
Lyon County improves to 5-2 on the season, while Union County drops to 1-5.
