Trigg County senior football player Tyson Bush has received the Brandon Burlsworth Character Award, given to high school players for conduct above and beyond expectations.
Bush was named to the All Western Kentucky Conference Team for a second straight season after leading the Wildcats in tackles this season, while also starting on offense and special teams.
The award is named after Brandon Burlsworth, a former walk-in at the University of Arkansas, who was drafted in third round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Eleven days after he was drafted, Burlsworth was killed in a car crash.
Bush received a copy of “Through the Eyes of a Champion”, a book about Burlsworth life in addition to his award.
