When Trintiee Jackson is able to take over stretches of a game, the Christian Count Lady Colonels are hard to beat. That was the case Monday night, as the Christian County Lady Colonels used a strong second half from their senior center to pull away from Grayson County on the way to a 67-48 win.
The Lady Cougars out of the 3rd Region were able to make a battle of it early, trailing only 12-9 at the end of the first quarter. Christian County, behind the play of Bianna Snorton and Aaliyah Hampton stretched the margin out in the 2nd quarter, taking a 32-21 lead into halftime.
Grayson County battled to hang on in the 3rd quarter, as Jackson began to assert herself inside. The Lady Cougars were still within 13 points at 50-37 when the period ended.
In the 4th quarter, Jackson was able to dominate in the paint, and the Lady Colonels defense began to have its full impact on the Grayson County ballhandlers. Jackson scored 10 of her 25 points in the final period.
In addition to Trinitee Jackson’s 25 points, Laderia Gold had 14 for Christian County, including four 3-pointers. Aaliyah Hampton added 12 points on the night.
Grayson County was led by Hannah Saltsman with 15, and Kenzie Renfrow with 12.
Christian County improved to 6-1 on the season, and hits the road to Owensboro Tuesday night to take on the Lady Red Devils.
