The Christian County Colonels remained unbeaten on the season Saturday as they edge out Louisville Doss 79-75 in the Methodist Hospital Classic at Henderson County. The Colonels opened fast in the contest and then held on for their third consecutive win to open the season.
Christian County opened the game on a 14-4 run, and expanded that to 27-12 by the end of the quarter. All but four of the Colonels points were score by Detorrion Ware in the opening stanza.
Doss battled back in the second quarter, eventually cutting the lead to 9, at 42-33 at the half. It was a huge first half for Detorrion Ware, as he ended up with 28 points at the break.
During the 3rd quarter of play, the Colonels were able to hold the Dragons at bay, pushing the lead back out to double digits at 59-46 by the end of the quarter. Doss made one final surge in the 4th quarter, getting as close as 3 points in the final moments. However, Christian County made enough plays and enough free throws to seal the four point win.
Christian County had a huge day from Detorrion Ware with 33. The Colonels improve to 3-0 on the season, and get ready to get back on the road Tuesday night to take on Owensboro.
