You have to hand it to Trigg County – they have made their first four games of the boys’ basketball season exciting ones. All four of Trigg’s games have been decided by five points or less. The latest came Friday as Trigg fell to Livingston Central 47-44 in Smithland.

Livingston took the lead midway through the first quarter and extended it to 31-20 at halftime. Down 37-25 in the third quarter, Trigg County began to chip away at the deficit. Four different Wildcats scored their final eight points of the quarter to bring Trigg to within 39-33 heading into the final frame.

Cam Jordan scored Trigg County’s first six points of the fourth quarter to draw Trigg to within four points. A Kyron Grubbs bucket with 1:59 cut the deficit to 45-44. However, Trigg managed a turnover and two missed shots in their final three possessions.

Jordan finished with 12 points and six rebounds for the Wildcats. Jakobe Bridges and Conner Barnes both scored seven points. Devron Triplet and DeOvion Day, who both came into the game averaging 13 points a game, each scored two points as they had trouble getting looks against the Livingston zone.

Cameron Dean scored 16 points for Livingston Central, who also got eight points each from Steven Mayhugh and T-Roy Ringstaff.

Trigg County falls to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in district play. They will host Lyon County, who is also 1-1 in district play, Tuesday at Wildcat Gym.
