
A slow start put the Lyon County Lady Lyons in a first half hole that they could not dig out of as they suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday night, falling to Livingston Central 44-41 on the road in Smithland. Lyon County struggled offensively early, scoring only four points in the first quarter, which forced them to play catch up the rest of the night, and they very nearly did.
The Lady Cardinals led 13-4 at the end of the first quarter. Livingston Central held Lyon County to only seven points in the second quarter, extending the lead to 24 to 11 at the half.
Livingston Central continued to hold the Lady Lyons at bay in the 3rd quarter, leading 36-24 after the period.
In the 4th quarter, Lyon County got hot behind the 3-point line and began a furious rally. Sophie Bingham and Allison Murphy each had two 3’s during the comeback attempt which fell just short. Lyon County was led on the night by Murphy with 16 and Bingham, who had 14.
Livingston Central got a big night from Tabby Padon, who connected for 31 points in the game.
Lyon County falls to 2-1 on the season, and will now get ready for their first home game Friday night, as they host Crittenden County in a 5th District matchup.
