Lady Colonels Look Strong in Win Over Caldwell County (w/PHOTOS)

The Christian County Lady Colonels continued their early season hot start Friday night as they rolled past the Caldwell County Lady Tigers 65-28 in Princeton. Christian County broke the game open with a run late in the first quarter. the Lady Colonels were leading 13-8, when they ripped off a 13-0 run, keyed by pressure defense that forced the young Lady Tigers into several mistakes. Christan County led 28-12 at the end of the 1st quarter.

The pressure defense continued to take its toll at the beginning of the second quarter, as the Lady Colonels went on an 18-0 run to salt the game away. Caldwell County answered with an 8-0 run of their own to end the half, but still found themselves trailing at the break 46-20.

Christian County’s defense limited Caldwell County to four points in the third quarter, as the Lady Colonels extended their lead to 59-24. Christian County coach Kiki Radford pulled all of her starters with three minutes to go in the period.

Each team had the chance to play a number of reserves during the 4th quarter.

Christian County was led by Trinitee Jackson and Laderia Gold with 15 points each. All 15 of Gold’s points came in the first quarter. Aaliyah Hampton had 11 points, while Kinara Phillips added 10.

For Caldwell County, Bella McConnell was the only player in double figures with 14 points, while Jada Boyd added 7.

Christian County improved to 3-0 on the season, and will take on Madisonville Tuesday. Caldwell County fell to 0-2 on the season and will hit the road Tuesday to take on Crittenden County.
