With five players in double figures, Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team topped Arkansas-Pine Bluff 97-61 in their Dunn Center return. The comeback Govs needed no second-half resurgence Wednesday night, as they pulled away from Arkansas-Pine Bluff grabbing a 15-point lead in the first quarter that they would never surrender.

Kelen Kenol and Brianne Alexander took advantage of the Golden Lions guard-heavy lineup as Kenol scored four points and Alexander added five points and two rebounds down low. Freshman Brianah Ferby got off to a hot start scoring 11 points in the first quarter coming off the bench.

Keisha Gregory found her rhythm in the second quarter shooting 75.0 percent from the field scoring nine points, bringing down five rebounds and recording one steal. The Governors scored 15 points off turnovers in the first half, taking a 50-24 lead into the halftime break.

Coming out of the half, Alexander scored four early points off strong offensive rebounds. Her inside performance was aided by the outside shooting of Brianah Ferby and Brandi Ferby, who each scored six points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. The Governors put up 30 points in the third quarter, the most they have scored in a single quarter this season.

The Governors scored 15 bench points in the final period, with junior college transfer Michaela Campbell leading the way with seven points, while freshmen Myah LeFlore and Brandi Ferby added four points each.

Brianah Ferby lead the Governors with 17 points, three rebounds and two steals. Gregory scored in double-digits for the fourth straight game racking up 15 points and five rebounds.

Forwards Alexander and Kenol dictated the front court, scoring 12 points apiece, with Alexander adding four rebounds as the Governors earned their fifth-straight victory.
