The first full week of the 2017-2018 high school basketball season will feature one of premiere high school basketball events in the country in western Kentucky. The annual CFSB Marshall County Hoop Fest will get underway Thursday and wrap up Sunday at Marshall County High School.

Two of the expected contenders in the 2nd Region, both from the 8th District, will be playing in the event, one on the opening day and one on the closing day of the showcase.

The UHA Blazers, featuring junior standout KyKy Tandy, will take on the Graves County Eagles, Thursday evening at 7:00pm. The Eagles finished last season at 27-8, winning the 1st Region title, before losing to eventual state champion Bowling Green in the first round of the Sweet 16.

The Hopkinsville Tigers, who many consider to be the favorite for the 2nd Region championship, will be playing on the final day of the Hoop Fest, as they will take on defending state champion Bowling Green Sunday afternoon at 4:30.

Among other teams appearing in this year’s Hoop Fest will be Massac County, Marshall County, Oak Hill Academy, Aspire Basketball Academy, Lexington Catholic, and Adair County.
