After bringing in size to start the early signing period, Austin Peay State University head men’s basketball coach Matt Figger has ventured north to Philadelphia to add toughness and leadership in the form of Antwuan Butler, a point guard from Cardinal O’Hara High School. A Philadelphia native, Butler will fill a definite void in an Austin Peay backcourt poised to graduate Tre’ Ivory and Ed Stephens at the end of this season. He was 1,000-point scorer at Delaware Valley Charter in his first three seasons, following head coach Jason Harrigan to Cardinal O’Hara when Del-Val closed its doors last summer.

Butler will work on reaching the same heights at Cardinal O’Hara that he was able to achieve at Delaware Valley in his final season. Already, he’s served as team captain and led a team to both a city championship and public league championship, netting first-team all-league honors in the process. And academically, Butler has made consistent appearances on the honor roll.

Butler joins Matheus Silveira, a Brazilian big man also brought in during the November signing period.
