VIDEO – Lady Warriors Drop Opener to South Haven

Heritage Christian Academy came from behind, then traded buckets, but in the end came up short in their season opener falling to South Haven, TN 42-36 Tuesday at Warrior Gym.

HCA fell behind 10-2 out of the gate but battled back to trail by one 17-16 at halftime. Rachel West scored 12 of HCA’s 16 first half points and finished the game with a team-high 19 points to go with five rebounds.

HCA took a 25-23 midway through the third quarter on a 3-point play by Chelsea Dortch, before South Haven’s Annabeth Hatcher hit consecutive 3-pointers to give the Patriots the lead. Hatcher finished with a game-high 21 points and added six rebounds.

HCA was bothered by 21 turnovers in the contest that allowed South Haven to get up 11 more shots than the Lady Warriors. South Haven held a slight 23-20 advantage on the boards.

Dortch had seven points and eight rebounds for HCA, while Hope Flournoy added six points and five rebounds. Meredith Crunk and Abbi Bullock each scored two points for Heritage Christian, who hosts Northside Baptist Christian of Mayfield Thursday.
