The Caldwell County Tigers got all the points they needed in the first half Friday night, as they easily handled Hart County 43-14 in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs. The Tigers scored 14 points in the first quarter, and then exploded for 29 more in the second quarter to put the game away early.

The Tigers got on the board early on a 1-yard run from Jameer Riley to take a 7-0 lead less than four minutes into the contest. Caldwell County padded that lead when Joby Jaggers connected with Oliver Parker for a 59-yard score to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second, Caldwell County pushed the lead to 21-0 when Jaggers threw his second TD pass of the night, this one to Jameer Riley from ten yards out. Less than four minutes later Jaggers and Parker hooked up again, this time from 55 yards, to make it 28-0.

After a return for a touchdown, Jaggers and Parker connected for a third time, this one from 17 yards in the final seconds of the first half, to push the lead on out to 43-0. Hart County would score a couple of meaningless touchdowns in the second half to reach the final score.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 9-2 on the season. They advance on to host Larue County next Friday night. Larue County advanced with a 14-0 win over Union County.
