Trigg County had trouble containing Elizabethtown’s big-play capability and fell to the Panthers 47-6 Friday in the first round of the Class 3A football playoffs.

E-town had six plays of 25 yards or more in rolling up 360 yards on just 32 plays. Jay Becherer scored on runs of 13 and 50 yards and caught a 40-yard scoring pass from Tyler Durbin as part of a night that saw him rack up 150 yards on just seven touches. He also had a punt return for a score called back due to a penalty.

Trigg County managed just 143 yards of total offense. Cam Jordan completed 9-of-15 passes for 76 yards, passing 1,000 yards on the season. He threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jakobe Bridges with 3:25 left to keep the Wildcats from equaling their largest playoff loss. Bridges completed 5-of-5 passes in the second half for 37 yards and caught three passes for 61 yards.

Trigg County’s Riley Stallons picked off his seventh pass of the season in the first quarter, which is one off the single season record set by Derek Burcham in 2000.

Next week, Elizabethtown (10-1) will host Paducah Tilghman, a 45-0 winner over Edmonson County.

Trigg County’s season ends with a record of 5-6.
